Electric-vehicle maker Rivian plans to launch advanced hands-free driver assistance systems in 2025 and “eyes-off” systems in 2026, adding value for customers. The company’s Gen 2 vehicles currently feature the “Rivian Autonomy Platform,” with plans to give buyers their “time back” by allowing them to use their phones or read while driving. CEO Scaringe emphasized the importance of developing these capabilities. Rivian does not foresee significant risk to its loan for a Georgia plant from Trump’s executive orders impacting the EV industry. Trump recently revoked a 2021 executive order by Biden aimed at increasing electric vehicle sales in the U.S., creating uncertainty for automakers and their suppliers. Rivian is closely monitoring the situation and potential impacts on their supply chains in Mexico.
