Eversource Energy selling Aquarion Water Company for $2.4 billion

Eversource Energy has agreed to sell Aquarion Water Company to the Aquarion Water Authority for $2.4 billion, with $1.6 billion in cash and $800 million in net debt to be extinguished. The sale will allow Eversource to reduce parent company debt and reinvest in its electric and gas businesses. The transaction is set to close in late 2025, with Eversource expecting a $300 million loss in the fourth quarter of 2024. Despite this, Eversource reaffirms its long-term earnings per share growth target of 5% to 7% through 2028.
