Gains from financials and telecoms offset weakness in plantation stocks. However, concerns over U.S. tariffs led to a soft global market forecast for Asian markets, following a negative trend in European and U.S. markets. The Dow, NASDAQ, and S&P 500 all closed in the red on Friday, with stocks plummeting in afternoon trading after confirmation of President Trump’s tariffs on major U.S. trading partners. Oil futures also fell amid tariff uncertainty and a stronger dollar.
