Westhaven Gold Corp. starts drilling on Shovelnose gold property, testing multiple target areas

From GlobeNewswire: 2025-02-03 09:30:00

Westhaven Gold Corp. has begun drilling on the Shovelnose gold property in British Columbia, testing three target areas with 2,500 meters of drilling. The program will focus on Certes 1 and 3, which are southeast of the high-grade South Zone deposit, and the Corral target. A corridor of mineralization has been expanded by surface sampling and drilling, indicating a significant structure.

Preliminary drilling at Certes has revealed an epithermal system confirmed by pathfinder geochemistry. Certes 3 will be the main focus, testing down-dip arsenic and gold-bearing breccias. Certes 1 will target a resistivity feature identified by an IP survey, while Corral will be drilled to explore anomalous arsenic in outcrop.

An updated Mineral Resource Estimate and Preliminary Economic Assessment for the South Zone deposit, including the FMN and Franz Zones, are expected in Q1 2025. Westhaven Gold Corp. is advancing the Shovelnose project in the Spences Bridge Gold Belt, controlling 61,512 hectares with four gold properties. The project is located near existing infrastructure, making exploration more cost-effective.

The company’s forward-looking statements indicate potential for multiple gold-bearing systems at Shovelnose, with an intermediate sulphidation epithermal signature at the Certes target. Risks include geological factors, interpretation of results, and funding challenges. Westhaven’s exploration properties are in early stages, with no known commercial mineralization currently.
