China retaliates against U.S. tariffs with extra tariffs on agricultural products and other restrictions

China is imposing extra tariffs on various U.S. agricultural products starting March 10, including chicken, wheat, corn, and cotton. They are also suing the U.S. at the World Trade Organization and adding U.S. companies to export-control and corporate blacklists.

China is stopping Illumina from selling gene sequencers in China and probing U.S. firms for potentially “dumping” fiber-optic products. They are also suspending some U.S. imports, like wood and soybeans from three companies. Some analysts believe China’s response is symbolic and muted.
