First Atlantic Nickel Corp. announces initial assay results from its Atlantic Nickel Project in Newfoundland showing up to 0.31% nickel and 2.61% chromium over 383.1 meters. The RPM Zone discovery hole surpasses previous drilling depths, signifying a significant nickel system. Metallurgical testing is ongoing to evaluate magnetic recovery of nickel for commercial processing.
The RPM Zone has shown extensive nickel mineralization, covering a 500m x 400m area with large-grain awaruite. The discovery represents a major step-out within a 30-km nickel trend, highlighting the potential for multiple large nickel zones. Phase 2 drilling aims to expand the mineralized area deeper, funded by a recent $3M raise.
Initial drill hole AN-24-02 reached a depth of 394.1 meters, consistently intersecting nickel mineralization averaging 0.24% nickel and 0.32% chromium. The presence of large-grain visible awaruite throughout the drill core indicates significant potential for mineralization. The Company plans to utilize larger drill rigs for future drilling to maximize depth and efficiency.
Analysis of awaruite grain sizes exceeding 500 microns supports potential cost-effective magnetic separation processing. The Company aims to develop a smelter-free nickel project, aligning with North America’s critical mineral supply chain needs.
