Private Sector Job Growth Weak in Feb: Will NFP Report Follow Suit?

The Bureau of Labor Statistics will release the nonfarm payrolls and unemployment numbers for February on Friday, following a weaker than expected ADP private sector jobs report. Economists expect 170,000 new jobs, with the unemployment rate remaining at 4.0% and wage growth ticking up 0.3%. The ADP report showed only 77,000 new private sector jobs added in February, well below expectations. Vanguard predicts 195,000 new jobs and stable unemployment at 4.0%. The Fed is likely to maintain a wait-and-see approach based on the strong job growth expected in the report.
