Methanex Corporation announced an unplanned outage at its 1.8 million tonne methanol plant, Geismar 3, in Louisiana in February. The autothermal reformer (ATR) is being repaired with a plant startup expected by early May 2025. Other planned maintenance work is being completed during the outage, impacting second quarter financial results. Methanex, the world’s largest methanol supplier, is based in Vancouver and listed on the TSX and Nasdaq. The cost of repairs is not expected to be significant.
