Total job openings in January increased by 232,000 to 7.740 million, with levels returning to normal post-COVID. Hires increased by 19,000 to 5.393 million, with the biggest decrease in leisure & hospitality and food & services industries. Separations also rose by 170,000 to 5.52 million, with professional & business services being the hardest hit. Of the separations, 3.266 million were people quitting their jobs, making up 62% of total separations. Despite fluctuations, the data suggests a stable job market with a healthy balance of hires and separations, indicating a positive trend for employment opportunities.
