Stock market sell-off leads to potential buying opportunities for undervalued stocks
From Nasdaq: 2025-03-14 05:06:00
In a recent market sell-off, the Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500, and Nasdaq Composite dropped by 7.2%, 9.3%, and 13.1%, respectively. Stock valuations have been historically high, with the Shiller P/E Ratio showing the third-highest premium in continuous bull markets since 1871.
Sirius XM Holdings (NASDAQ: SIRI) stands out for its low valuation and revenue diversity. With 76% of sales coming from subscription services, the company’s predictable cash flow and dividend yield near 5% make it an attractive investment, especially if shares dip below $20.
Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL, GOOG) remains a solid investment with a strong search engine segment and potential growth in Google Cloud. The incorporation of artificial intelligence solutions could drive sales growth. Despite being cheap at 16 times forward earnings, Alphabet’s stock may see further declines due to market conditions.
Pinterest (NYSE: PINS) has seen an increase in monthly active users and investments in innovation, boosting ad-pricing power. With an operating model based on user-generated content, Pinterest’s growth runway is less affected by changes in tracking tools. The stock, currently at 14 times forward-year earnings, may retreat further during the sell-off.
Fiverr International (NYSE: FVRR) is well-positioned in the online services marketplace, catering to remote work trends. Despite a slight decline in annual active buyers, higher annual spend per buyer and marketplace take rate highlight the company’s strength in retaining clients. With shares trading at about 10 times forward earnings, Fiverr offers a compelling opportunity.
PennantPark Floating Rate Capital (NYSE: PFLT) offers an 11% dividend yield and invests primarily in debt securities. With variable interest rates on its debt portfolio, the company can take advantage of rising rates. The stock, currently trading close to book value, may present a buying opportunity during market dislocations.
