French company Safran has offered to sell a North American business to address EU concerns about its $1.8 billion bid for Collins Aerospace’s flight controls. The European Commission seeks feedback before deciding on the proposal, asking about suitable buyers. Safran agreed to sell the unit in December and expects the deal to complete by mid-2025.

Actuators help control aircraft by converting electronic instructions to physical movement. Safran’s offer follows its agreement with Woodward to sell the electromechanical actuation business. Respondents have until Thursday to comment on the proposal, which is part of Safran’s biggest deal since acquiring Zodiac in 2018.
