Indian shares rise slightly, IT stocks down due to uncertainty over Trump administration spending

Indian shares opened slightly higher on Friday despite muted global cues. The S&P/BSE Sensex was up 0.3% while the NSE Nifty index rose by 0.3% as well. Top gainers included Bajaj Auto, Nestle India, and Hero MotoCorp. IT stocks were lower due to uncertainty over spending changes in the new Trump administration. Jio Financial Services gained on reports of a partnership with Allianz SE. RailTel Corporation of India surged after winning a work order from the Ministry of Defence. Manappuram Finance rallied on news of a share issuance to Bain Capital. Adani Enterprises rose after forming a new joint venture. Hindustan Unilever edged lower after announcing an investment in Lucro Plastecycle.
