Hong Kong remains Asia’s top financial center and third globally, surpassing Singapore. London improved to second place. Seoul climbed into the top 10. Ratings are based on factors and a survey of almost 5,000 respondents. Hong Kong’s success is attributed to mainland support and market reforms.
Hong Kong regained its top ranking in September, excelling in human capital, infrastructure, financial sector development, and business reputation. It leads in investment management, insurance, and finance. The city’s Chief Executive met with Singapore’s Prime Minister in November 2024.
Hong Kong is ranked fourth globally in fintech offerings, showing strong confidence in the financial sector. The city’s budget includes measures to boost wealth management, family offices, stock listings, and yuan-denominated business. Hong Kong is expected to host several finance conferences, attracting global investors and entrepreneurs.
The People’s Bank of China and Hong Kong Monetary Authority agreed to deepen cross-border financial access. Enhancements were introduced to various wealth management schemes. Hong Kong plans to unveil policies on virtual assets, promote the gold market, and create a commodity trading ecosystem. Financial Secretary expects IPOs to raise up to $20 billion this year.
