Hesai Technology, a China-based LiDAR sensor manufacturer, has been selected as the exclusive provider for Chery Automobile’s iCAR new energy brand. The partnership will integrate Hesai’s ATX LiDAR into iCAR vehicles, enhancing their perception capabilities for advanced driving functions like active braking and smart parking.

Hesai’s ATX LiDAR is a compact, ultra-high-definition, long-range sensor that will support features such as adaptive cruise control and urban navigation in iCAR vehicles. CEO Yifan “David” Li expressed excitement over the partnership with Chery, marking a milestone in making intelligent driving technology accessible to the mass market.

With 22 automotive OEM design wins globally, Hesai has established itself as a key player in the LiDAR industry. The company’s contract with a leading Chinese NEV automaker for ATX LiDAR as a standard component for high-end smart EV models demonstrates its market presence and growth potential.

In December 2024, Hesai signed a significant deal with Changan Automobile to supply over 1.5 million LiDAR sensors for its smart driving platform. The contract includes the delivery of ATX compact LiDAR units for integration into various vehicle models across the Changan brand portfolio in the coming years.

The inaugural car equipped with Hesai’s LiDAR technology is set to begin production in the second half of 2025, showcasing the company’s commitment to advancing intelligent driving solutions. This partnership with Chery’s iCAR brand highlights Hesai’s ongoing efforts to drive innovation and accessibility in the automotive industry.
