French manufacturer Alstom delivers 500th electric locomotive to Indian Railways, part of a contract worth $3.7bn. These high-powered e-locomotives can pull 6,000t rakes at 120km/h, offering energy savings through regenerative braking. Alstom also opens maintenance depots in Saharanpur and Nagpur for enhanced availability. Majority of components locally sourced, showcasing ‘Make in India’ initiative.
