The US SEC has a roundtable on crypto trading regulation with executives from Uniswap Labs, Cumberland DRW, and Coinbase participating. Lawsuits against Cumberland DRW and Coinbase were dropped by the Trump administration. Other participants include NYSE’s Jon Herrick and FalconX’s Austin Reid. The SEC is reviewing staff crypto comments under Uyeda’s direction.
Uyeda is reviewing seven staff statements, five related to crypto, following Trump’s deregulation order. The SEC aims to modify or rescind statements in line with current priorities. Statements under review include those on crypto sales as investment contracts, Bitcoin futures, state-chartered banks as custodians, and risks associated with trading digital asset securities. The SEC is focused on aligning staff statements with the agency’s current priorities.
