Dole is expanding the use of recyclable Oxifilm in Central America to reduce plastic waste.

Dole Food Co. is expanding the use of Oxifilm, a recyclable stretch film, in its banana and pineapple operations in Central America. This switch will reduce 85% of traditional palletisation materials, eliminating 4lb of waste per pallet. Dole’s sustainability efforts have already cut down plastic usage by 4,850lb per week for bananas and 11,640lb per week for pineapples. By adopting Oxifilm, Dole aims to save 17,460lb of plastic weekly. The move also brings automation to parts of the palletisation process, enhancing efficiency in the supply chain. Dole plans to introduce Oxifilm in more locations in the coming years.
