US authorities charge tech app founder with fraud, accusing him of falsely advertising an AI-powered e-commerce app that actually used human workers in the Philippines. Albert Saniger of Barcelona faces securities and wire fraud charges, allegedly duping investors of over $40 million. The app failed to achieve automation as promised, leading to its closure in 2023. Saniger could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
