Scania, a subsidiary of Volkswagen, has acquired the heavy industry battery packs unit of bankrupt Northvolt. The purchase aims to strengthen Scania’s position in the electric vehicle market. Northvolt, a Swedish battery maker, filed for bankruptcy in October due to financial difficulties. The deal will allow Scania to expand its presence in the sustainable energy sector.
