Asian stocks rose as technology stocks surged following the exemption of certain consumer electronics from reciprocal tariffs by the Trump administration. The dollar remained weak as gold prices held near record highs and oil prices edged up. Chinese shares increased on the news of a sharp rebound in crude imports and a 12.4 percent rise in exports in March. Japanese markets ended higher with iPhone-related shares jumping. Nvidia supplier Advantest surged 4.9 percent, while Seoul stocks rose sharply on eased tariff woes. Australian markets also started the week on a positive note. US stocks rose after President Trump expressed optimism about reaching a trade deal with China. JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, and Wells Fargo reported better-than-expected profits but warned of a potential economic slowdown.
