Bitcoin held by publicly listed firms climbs 16% in Q1: Bitwise

In the first quarter of 2025, publicly traded companies increased their Bitcoin holdings by 16.1%, reaching a total of 688,000 BTC valued at $56.7 billion, with firms adding 95,431 BTC. The number of public companies holding Bitcoin rose to 79, with 12 firms making their first Bitcoin purchase in Q1.

Japanese investment firm Metaplanet purchased an additional 319 Bitcoin for an average price of $82,770 per coin, totaling 4,525 Bitcoin worth $383.2 million. Despite spending $406 million on Bitcoin, the company saw a 3.71% increase in trading on April 14. It currently ranks tenth among public companies holding Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is currently trading at around $84,440 and has remained relatively flat over the past 24 hours. It has seen a 2.3% increase since the end of Q1, bouncing back from a low of under $75,000 on April 7 after a broader market decline due to new global tariffs imposed by the US.
