Chipmaker NVIDIA plans to manufacture up to $500bn worth of AI supercomputers in the US over the next four years. This marks the first time the company’s AI infrastructure will be fully produced in the US, boosting supply chain resilience and meeting growing demand for AI chips. The company has partnered with TSMC, Foxconn, Wistron, Amkor Technology, and SPIL to commission over one million square feet of manufacturing space. Production of the latest AI technologies, including Blackwell chips, has already started at TSMC’s fabrication plants in Phoenix, Arizona. Supercomputer manufacturing facilities are being developed in Texas, with mass production scheduled to begin within the next 12 to 15 months. NVIDIA also plans to enhance packaging and testing capabilities with the help of Amkor and SPIL in Arizona. The company anticipates substantial economic benefits in the US, including the creation of hundreds of thousands of jobs and increased resilience of critical technological infrastructure. The deployment of technologies like NVIDIA Omniverse and Isaac GR00T robotics platform will optimize facility design and automate manufacturing processes. This initiative aims to support the development of “AI factories” and gigawatt-scale facilities in the AI-driven industry. In March 2025, reports surfaced about NVIDIA’s plans to acquire Lepton AI, a company specializing in renting out servers powered by NVIDIA’s AI chips.
