Bitcoin ETFs See Big April Outflows Despite Price Recovery

Bitcoin ETFs have seen consistent outflows in April, totaling $812.3 million, despite recent price recovery. BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust led with $393.2 million withdrawn. Grayscale Bitcoin Trust, Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund, and Bitwise Bitcoin ETF also experienced significant outflows, while Grayscale Bitcoin Mini Trust showed positive flows of $36.7 million.
The largest outflow occurred on April 8, losing $326.3 million, coinciding with a 104% tariff rate on Chinese imports. Despite ETF outflows, Bitcoin’s price remained strong at around $84,150, showing gains over the past week. April 2 recorded a positive day for ETFs, adding $218.1 million, as tariffs on Chinese imports rose to 54%.
Year-to-date, Bitcoin ETF flows remain positive at $215.2 million, with IBIT leading in net inflows at $2.3 billion and GBTC experiencing the largest outflows at $1.23 billion. Meanwhile, Strategy Inc. continues to add to its Bitcoin holdings, purchasing 3,459 Bitcoin for $285.8 million, bringing total holdings to 531,644 Bitcoin worth $35.9 billion.
